Liverpool vs. Birmingham

Is this another chance for Liverpool to get their EPL pursuit back on track? they took their chance at Anfield against Manchester United 2 Weeks ago, but slipped up again away to a resilient Fulham side ... The stage is now set again for the reds as they tackle this must win game. Although this fixture was always a must win one, not many before the season kicked off would have expected this game to have so much riding on it.
Rafa Benitez's side has nothing to lose with their backs already firmly against the wall. They tend to win these games, as it looked like they would in the Champions league game at Lyon, but a late equaliser from Lyon stole the victory from Liverpool.

The Liverpool boss has asked Benayoun to step up again for his struggling side, as they are again without their inspirational leader Steven Gerrard, who looks like he might heading for the operating room, since he can't seem to shake off the niggling groin injury.

Birmingham will head to Anfield with maybe higher intentions than to just frustrate the home side and pull off a draw. They might see this as an opportunity to capitalise on Liverpool's low confidence and actually test them.

  1. to tell u the truth i feel sorry for liverpool. despite chelsea being my main team i still always like to see the other big four teams play well so i want liverpool to beat birmingham.but liverpool needs to depend on and give hope to the other players.as voronin scored tons of goals in the bundesliga last season while on loan and benitez is benching him. so part of their poor run has to do with benitez. he depends too much on gerrard and torres. but we will see what happens.

  3. i expect liverpool to win this game even without gerrard and torres... if they cant win this game then then i would have to rule them outta the title race.

  7. Watching the games yesterday confirmed something I've feared for awhile now, Birmingham's title bid is in ruins following a draw with mid-table Liverpool.
