RAFA the Gafa
The topic of the week, or should i say past few weeks actually, is that of liverpool and their struggling spanish manager, Rafa Benitez...
it seems as though the 'rough patch' isnt over yet, with that terrible loss to fulham at craven cottage on the weekend seemingly putting pool fans into a panic and calling for rafa's head.
with 6 losses in their last 7 games in all competitions (including being knocked out of the mighty carling cup ;) by the young gunnerz ), and an injury list to add to that, things are looking bleek for the spaniard's side.
Liverpool hasnt had the defensive stability as they have had for the past few seasons, and personally i think that is down to Glen johnson. He has been given farrrrr to much permission to attack on that right flank, leaving carragher extremely exposed on his right side...
One might wonder why rafa and pool fans alike complain about their lack of depth in the side to be able to compete...well shudnt questions be pointed at rafa and his lack of providing this depth... i mean he has been there going on 5 years now right?
your thoughts..........

Agreed!
ReplyDeleteGillett was correct when he said a few weeks back "blame the manager, not the owner" and he is dead on. I dont have exact figure on monies spent, but Rafa has spent around $220 mill!! Where it gone?! The only real quality ive seen Rafa sign is Torres, Masch, Reina & Alonso, while the rest of his signings are mid table players at BEST! Johnson is good, but 18M? I dont know, his form thus far has looked very spotty to me..
After this run i find it hard to believe the 'pool fans out there wont demand change... Especially if Auilani doesnt light the pitch on fire when he finally gets a full game...
Bottom line is this: The season just 11 games in, and Liverpools EPL hopes are already going up in smoke.. Not to mention the CL... Is it good enough?
I blame both managers and owners. They have not managed money well ,and we need a financial boost to get hte players we want. Rafa cannot handle a big team, simple as that.
ReplyDeleteDesperate Tactics....
ReplyDeleteAt the press conference today ahead of the Lyon CL match, Rafa says:
"I am really pleased to be here and I want to be here for a long time. Always, if you walk through a storm you hold your head up high, so that is what we will do."
Qouting from the 'You'll Never Walk Alone' Liverpool anthem... Is it just me, or does that reek of desperation to keep the fans on his side??
It's sad when Liverpool goes into a Champion's League group match and aren't favorites. The odds are against them.
ReplyDeleteWithout Johnson, Aurelio, Gerrard and possibly Torres...their Champions League and Premier League quest will end before Santa comes..
I love that now Rafa says "We don't need trophies, look at the progress of the team"
Yea 1st at this stage last season, now 6th..with Aston Villa having a game in hand.
rafa is a genious....hes managed to make the owners culpable for all of liverpool failings...i mean forget why on earth did he force the sale of robbie keane ..a boyhood liverpool fan..who would have been perfect back up....and di 18 for johnson?why not buy a winger..and push thru kelly..hes looked good... teh finances have been massively mismanaged...and the singings have been worse than the last.degen...ngog?..liverpool have been bawling about this massicve injury crisis..is just that there 3 good players all injured at the same time..youth players are singed in bulk...and none nurtured.gerrard is the last liverpool player to come thru the ranks..kelly could have..but they stump his growth with a overpriced...proven failure at top level....there not a team....there a show wid a weak supporting cast..
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to see how people's views change IF Liverpool end up winning 2 maybe 3-0.
ReplyDeleteIn a way i would love to see Liverpool win and then see all the Scousers jump back on the wagon with their YNWA bull
a win is simple paper over the cracks..its still a weak team...
